As with any industry, concrete construction continues to find new ways in which to improve its methods as well as the materials used. In Singapore at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) – JTC Industrial Infrastructure Innovation Centre, scientists say they have created a bendable concrete that will not only bend under pressure but also will require less material to be produced, be stronger and last longer than regular concrete. This was achieved with an added mixture of hard materials with polymer microfibers to the list of ingredients.

While Assistant Professor Yang En-Hua stated in an interview with Channel NewsAsia that this type of concrete will initially cost more to produce, this cost will be offset later in there being less of a need for maintenance.
